The new house is big and cold, with lots of places for me to lounge about during the day. I spend much of my day watching all the yummy looking birds flutter about for my entertainment.
I caught a cat sitting on a fence outside. I kept a careful eye on this strange cat, and successfully protected my domain from it.
The old staff are finally beginning to adjust to my requirements. There are still some issues, but we are working on them together, and we will continue to do so until they learn.
Unfortunately, they have taken to sleeping in my room. I do not know why they sleep there. Maybe it is because of the big window, or the hidden room with sliding doors (which they keep closing, but that’s a separate issue). Whenever I catch them sleeping there, I try to make as much noise as possible so that they will leave and go back to their quarters but invariably they refuse.
I am also accustomed to having meals served promptly at 5am and 5pm. They never remember. Luckily, they have set an alarm to remind them, and that seems to help in the evening, but in the morning they have the alarm set far too late. I do try to alert them of this, but they are busy and sometimes do not listen. Furthermore, when the alarm sounds, they bring me the alarm, pointing at it as if I do not know why it is sounding. I wish they would just serve my food on time without all the fanfare.
All is forgiven, however, because the old staffers remembered my birthday! Since I know that my mum is a busy human, with a lot of exciting new things she is doing, I do not blame them for celebrating it 6 days late.
For my birthday, they brought home today a funny and mildly upsetting bird that flies around at mum’s beckoning. It is a less formidable enemy than the dreaded Red Dot, but I will go easy on it for now until it learns some tricks worthy of my skill.
It’s good to be back, and I like this cold new land and big house, and the loyal staff who share it with me. Even if they don’t yet understand which rooms are off limits.
Oh, Wednesday, it sounds like you’ve fully settled in with your mum and her friend. Do be careful about the place known as “outside.” There is only one thing more troubling than being invisible to staffers (old, new, or temps) and that is having an indoor cat suddenly be OUTSIDE. So, stick to guarding your domain at your favorite watch post on the INSIDE and all will be well with your world. And the staff members will shower you with much affection for it.
Wednesday has been quite good about staying on the proper side of the door. At the old apartment she used to run out into the hallway any time she had the chance, but here she seems to give the doors reasonable distance. With so much to do inside, she hardly has a reason to wonder about the land known as Outside.
