…was not what I expected.
There were about 70 classy cars and bikes comprised of truly classic cars, custom motorcycles, vintage motorcycles, and everyday riders. The categories were completely foreign to me since I’m not practiced at these events. All I knew was that the event was to be judged by “The People.” Being a charity event, the scheme was to buy your vote. The vehicle in a given class with the most votes wins! Proceeds from “voting” went to charity.
There was food (for a fee) and trophies to the winners but everybody went home happy even if for no other reason than to show off their big toys.
Here are the two machines that went “head-to-head” in a down and dirty face off. Three wheeled rivals taking design cues from a bygone era when trikes were used as delivery vehicles and sidecars filled the entire spectrum from utilitarian roles to the recreational vehicle for fun and sport.
It seemed like there was clear winner with the fine details of the blue trike (call-sign: “Bruno”) over the black hack (call-sign: “Siberi”). After all, Bruno had the flashy paint job and pin striping while Siberi was all one mundane color — black.
But when the votes were tallied, the winner was NEITHER !!! (I was shocked, I tell ya! Simply shocked.)
Here is where “The People” took a completely different turn and voted on a custom motorcycle which to me was nothing special to mention and of which I don’t even have a photo. It seems that the masses were more thoroughly tickled by the custom paint on the turquoise two-wheeler (not pictured on this page) than by the simple yet striking practicality and fine finish of the three-wheeled wonders !!!
And here is a picture of the trophy I didn’t win:
Nevertheless, it was a fun show. Many vehicles would have done better with more disciplined judging procedures but we all took any recognition offered which mostly consisted of “Wow, nice bike.” (Yeah, I’m good with that.)
