I have settled into my new home quite nicely, and my Old Staff is doing a fair job delivering my meals on time. There are a few days when they need reminding, but mostly they are doing OK.
I am a little amazed at how lazy my staff can be with regards to the security of our home. We have a beautiful yard, and I love sitting in the windows to watch the wind blowing through the trees and bushes. However, there have been a number of cats who feel that they can not just wander through our yard, but stop and poke through our things. I try to ward them away, but frankly there are so many of them that I would really appreciate a little help from my staff members. However, they just sit and chat while I do all of the work. Apparently no amount of training will change this, because I have tried.
Astounding!
On the other paw, there are still lots of birds that come round, challenging me to track them. The new home is uniquely designed to allow me to sprint from room to room, and leap into a window at a moment’s notice.
Unfortunately, my staff has not put any material in front of my main portal to allow me to apply brakes with any degree of predictability, so my head is a little bruised from constantly crashing into my lookout point. I try to convey my displeasure to mum by attacking her legs whenever she walks past me, but she only laughs and runs away. I am not sure how I can be any clearer in my communications, but hopefully they will eventually listen and get me a mat.
Then again, mum is busy lately. She has been making all sorts of wonderful things that I’m just sure are meant to be toys for me, although she puts them out of my reach and hides them in closets so I cannot get to them. Some day I will get ahold of them, and I will tear them apart, as I’m sure she really wants me to.
Until then, I quite like that mum puts out lots of boxes and beds for me so that I can rest up for all the busy cat stare contests and bird tracking that I have to tend to during the day.
