Dragon*Con 2012

This wasn’t much of a vacation. It was more like a “work-kay-shun” but it was still a satisfying time with fellow volunteers. We all enjoyed experiencing the sights and sounds of the largest multi-media, pop-culture convention focusing on science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film. If you’ve never had an off-world adventure, this is the closest you can get to having one without leaving the planet.

These few photos doesn’t do the event justice but offer a mere glimpse of the event.

A costumed geisha girl poses with guide dog Geisha and Marilee. Marilee is a volunteer at the disability services desk at DragonCon 2012.

Doctor Who fans display life sized working Die-lecks for the passing crowd.A costume vendor displays authentic belly dancing garb on manikins suspended from an overhead beam.A steam powered computer. An interesting example of employing improbable anachronisms. The odd looking but recognizable computing device sports a teletypewriter keyboard, a telegraph key, an anniversary clock, and a teapot (for the steam power of course).
